If anyone can help me with this problem I would be really grateful.
Out of the blue I started having computer problems, I decided to reinstall windows I have an OEM version of windows ultimate. Over the years I have installed windows many times without any problems.
For some reason when I go to activate windows online it tells me "The product key you typed is already in use". The only idea I have as to the culprit is that I put in a different name in the part when you name your computer and the other fields you fill out. Usually I call my comp "Alien-3" and I think somehow i did not put in my proper name, i normally put sebastian on the other parts and alien as the comp name. I do have the original box and the sticker that came on the box which has a metallic strip running through it that kind of looks like money. Usually I type in Sebastian as the ower and it is the name of the direction that has "desktop","downloads" and "favorites" to name a few. Now that name is Alien-V rather than "sebastian".
On the sticker it says:
"Proof of license certificate of authenticity" and obviously the key. Also a barcode with numbers below it and it says you are required to affix this certificate of authenticity to the exterior of the pc.
I have 14 days before my OS shuts down and I'd want to shoot myself if i have to reinstall everything again for 3rd time in 1 yr.
Would REALLY be thankful for ANY advice.

p.s. looking to update as I have been using vista for years, Is win 7 or 8.1 the way to go, need something that has a desktop like vista.
