is it the repeater or the router ?

Trying to debug a Netflix hang problem ("rebuffering") for my brother-in-law.

His DVD player hooks up wirelessly to the net then DVD to HDMI on TV.

How can I tell if the DVD is seeing the router or the repeater?

They both apparently have the same ID! I never used a repeater, but I assumed they would have unique ids.
