My friend has an HP laptop that has been contaminated with the Qone8 malware. Numerous attempts have been made to get rid of this pest but to no avail. I would appear that the system will have to be scrubbed and the OS (Windows 7) reloaded to fix it. The problem is that the computer was purchased (less than 2 years ago) with the software loaded and no OS CDs were included. And it also seems that the recommended backup CDs were not produced by the user. What I would like to know is is it possible to download the OS from HP website or from some other source. Hopefully, the user has the documentation that will verify that he purchased the computer.
Secondly, is there anywhere that you know of where I can find the procedure for reformatting the hard drive and reloading the OS? It's been awhile since I've done this and I need to be re-trained. Thanks much, Al
