2M Apple Thunderbolt Cable
OS: 10.9.1
Wired Apple Keyboard
Wireless Magic Mouse

Crap. Finally I have a mac and display (display purchased as refurbished from online Apple Store) that I can connect WITHOUT any adapters as in the past. I use one single Apple Thunderbolt Cable. All is fine and life is good? NO.

The damn display will not wake from sleep. First thing in the morning I pound on the space bar of my keyboard. I click the mouse over and over. Go back to pounding on the keyboard space bar. NOTHING but a Black Screen. The display itself does NOT have a power button. I must either unplug the Thunderbolt cable or do a reboot by powering down the Mac mini by holding the power button.

I have the Mac mini near the floor and use a 2M Apple Thunderbolt Cable to connect to the Thunderbolt Display. I have had the keyboard connected via USB2 to the display AND tried connecting to the Mac mini itself. I have used various settings in Energy Saver (Preferences - Energy Saver) i.e. “Put hard disks to sleep when possible”: checked and unchecked. “Automatically adjust brightness” (Preferences - Thunderbolt Display): checked and unchecked. No matter what I do this damn display will NOT wake!

Only setting left is slide the “Computer sleep” scale all the way to “Never”. Then, what is the point? There will be NO Energy Savings but, issue hopefully solved. So, this AM I have put the setting to “Never” on Computer sleep. So, I guess issue is solved. I mean how can the display NOT turn on now? Mac mini will never need to wake from sleep because it will be continually running. Right?

My first call to Apple Support they had me reset the PRAM. Which I did. Issue continued. Next call it was suggested connect keyboard directly to Mac mini. Issue continued. Next call, it was uncheck “Put hard disks to sleep when possible”. Issue continued. The last call to Apple Support mentioned I might have to do a “re-install”. Give me a break. That is a pain in the *****. Re-install Mavericks and start from scratch just to have the issue resume? Please...... Anyone ever had this issue? How did you get it resolved? Thanks.
