MacBook Pro Heat

I have a 2011 MacBook Pro with a 2.4 GHz i7 processor. When I began using the machine, it had a tendency to get very hot and run the fans at a high speed when running an external monitor or streaming netflix. Over the past few months however, it gets hot with minimal tasks (Chrome with 2-3 tabs) or single window streaming netflix without an external display. I made sure everything was clean from dust but the problem persisted. Apple Care made me reinstall the OS, reset the memory, etc. but nothing worked so I took it to the Apple store for more advanced diagnostics.

After running diagnostics, the store claimed that there was nothing wrong, but offered to replace the logic board. However now the heat/fan noise is worse than ever. Additionally, when I picked up the computer and was about to leave, I noticed a large dent on case the near hinge - when I mentioned this to the store manager she said something along the lines of "Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that." I was frustrated that she was about to let me leave the store without telling me about the damage they caused.

This is a decent computer, but the heat and loud fan noises are very annoying and since I like to watch movies I have to wear headphones to avoid the fan noise. I wish I had returned the machine when I bought it but I had started a new job and needed it for work. Any advice on how to proceed? Could this be an issue of needing more RAM to help support the system with taxing processes? The Apple Care technicians over the phone are nice, but can't seem to provide any insight aside from saying this is just how these machines run. I find it unusual that such a powerful processor gets so hot just to stream video with a single browser or perform simple tasks (my iPad can do it easily although I know this is not necessarily a valid comparison). Thanks for your help
