Windows 8 upgrade advice

Hey guys,

The screen reader that I use finally came out with full Windows 8 support.

yay!

Now the question is, how much is it going to cost me to upgrade? lol

My wife will soon be an Indiana Purdue student, she's going back for her masters in early childhood development. So was thinking maybe I could get a Windows 8 copy from her school, but if I can't, then I'm wondering what my options are. I had an .edu email address but it was just recently taken away from me, but could always use my wifes, so thats an option

My wife has no desire to upgrade her Computer to Windows 8 I don't think
She has an emachine I think its like a 1.8 or 2.0 ghz AMD that only has 3 GB of RAM in it, and only supports 3GB, so was thinking her machine may not be upgradable anyway.

My machine is listed below in the signature, and could upgrade up to 8 GB if I ever wanted to. I also have an

HP Pavilion dv6-1350us Entertainment Notebook PC

that I don't know if can be upgraded to Windows 8 or not

so basically I have 2 desktops at home, and one HP laptop.
My wife has a laptop too but its a loaner from school and if they decide to put windows 8 on it they can do do but she's not allowed to anyway.

so just the 3 licenses, maybe just 2 if she doesn't want Windows 8

Do multiple licensing options cost alot more? whats the deal with that?

even like home basic would be fine, our machines now are running Windows 7 Home premium on a 3 user license, and we don't use the premium features at all anyway.

thanks,

Also, one last thing, will Office 2010 work in Windows 8? I definitely know I can't upgrade to Office 2013, not until I become a student again. but then all I use word, excel for is writing letters, resumes, and home finances. OpenOffice just isn't the same
