Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I took the plunge Friday and bought a Note 3! I needed a new phone anyway. My Motoroloa had been a good phone but it was over 2 years old and I'm tough on phones - unusual to have one last me more than a year - so it was time to put the ol' Photon out to pasture.

Man, is this Note 3 shiny! So far I'm really liking it. There is one thing I'm not sure about, though, so if anyone reading this can put me on the right path (ha) it'll save me all kinds of flailing and wailing.

The big thing is the battery life which is supposed to be fantastic, which played into my decision. Ironically, a colleague in the next cube over got a Note 3 the day before I did so I got to play with his a little bit. He's getting much better battery life than I am, although he's using his phone more than I am during the day. Case in point: My phone was at 100% when I left the house this morning. 45 minutes later, at my desk, it was down to 91% and all I'd done was drive it from home to work - hadn't used it at all.

I had live wallpaper - turned it off. I'd had some stuff running in the background - turned it off. Had three email accounts on automatic/push - turned that off. Turned off notifications in my status bar. Turned off my weather app. Changed my screen time-out from 5 minutes to 2 - no help. Double-checked to be sure it wasn't searching for wifi - it wasn't. Meanwhile, colleague's phone has been getting used steadily all day and at 3PM still had 68% battery remaining. I'm starting to feel like I'm catering to the phone instead of the other way way around. Tongue

I have till November 21 to return it. Do you think I have a lemon? Or maybe just a bad battery? Or is this normal behavior (Samsung sure sold the phone as having MUCH better battery life than this)? Any input is appreciated!
